The last couple of days have really been bad for traveling.  We have been running into a thirty mile an hour head wind.  We started out getting about 8.5 MPG and it is down now to about 7.6 MPG.  Definitely not going to be a cheap trip.  We have seen some nice sights… Like dust blowing….

This was in Wilcox AZ.  Got to see a road runner!!!

They are sure bashful!

Not a nice RV park but they had cable TV and free wifi!!  It was also under $20.

I took a picture last night of our new faucet!!!  I really like it….

It is dark in the camper and  when you turn the water on it is green, then when you turn on the water and it gets hot it turns blue!!   Love it!  Not only is it colorful, it didn’t cost much, and it looks nice.

We stopped at Date Land and was going to camp but decided to go on.  We stopped in Welton AZ at the Tier Drop RV Park.  Beautiful park, quite a way from a large town but it is almost full of park models.  Quite a bit of room for transient campers.

We had a rough start yesterday.  Stopped in Tuscan for gas and my card was declined.  It had been compromised somehow or another.  I called the bank and they are shipping me a new card on Saturday so Linda is paying for everything right now, what a bummer.

Well, we should make it into San Diego this afternoon.  Hopefully the last part of the trip will be uneventful. Oh, got to wash the camper last night.  Looks better I think, it was getting kind of dark but sure got a lot of dirt off of it!!  Bye Y’all…

We are on our way to San Diego.  I think we are making pretty good time.  We are in Van  Horn Texas.  Could have gone farther but we aren’t in a hurry now because we left a couple of days early.

Sunday was my last day working at the coffee shop.  Got a couple of pictures…

This  is the coffee shop, I know Clarissa, she is in the white and Carolyn, the boss, is facing me in the doorway.  Quite a bit of help today and most of my work is after the serving is done, I help with  the the clean up.  Takes about forty five minutes with help.

That is the name of the coffee shop.

From Saturday I have a couple of pictures at the Appreciation Dinner…

Believe it or not they are dancing a slow dance to “Unchained Melody”!  Had to get this picture, Sandy sang the song for Linda and I to dance to and I was the only guy there so they did a group dance.

We are at Van Horn now at the Mountain View RV Park.  We have stayed there before.  The lady at the desk took us to the Dollar General Store.  I forgot my Crocks. She said she would take us to a restaurant and pick us up again.  We decided  to stay in but there is a really great restaurant  about a mile from  here that we were tempted to go but we have plenty to eat here.

Supposed to be a little storm tonight and windy tomorrow, hopefully it will be blowing out of the right direction.

Well, we have been kind of busy, the month, or season, is coming to a close.  We decided to leave early this year, the kids will be on Spring break so it will be a good time to visit.  I think we will stay a month out there, then head back making a few stops along the way.

I took a picture the other day and printed it.  It was kind of strange, a year ago or more we went on a small tour, can’t remember the place but they gave us some food made from different things.  After it was over we took  a picture of six of us and this picture has the same six people in it…

Ed and Joan, Jim and Sue and Linda and I.  I will  have to see if I can find the other picture.  Wonder if we are standing in the same positions???

I took the above picture because of the banana tree.  On my left arm is the flower and above it is the bananas.  I don’t think they will ripen, they look the same as when we got here five months ago!

 

I found it!!!  We weren’t quite in the same order but the same ones.  I thought that was quite amazing!!

OK now I have to try to remember what we did the last couple of days!

Our addition is almost finished.  It is finished for this year.  We will put something on the roof for insulation, probably some Styrofoam boards and roofing to keep it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.  Bob, the owner, took me down and we got a partial load of rock to put in front of the door.  Really didn’t like tracking in all the dirt.  Would have been nice to cement it but this was good, cheaper also.

Here is a cactus that has a growth on it…

That growth has to be eight to ten feet tall and still growing.  I haven’t ever seen it do  this before.  Actually it is growing fast, for a plant.  Took about a month to get this tall.

Friday we had biscuits and gravy at the club house.  For so late in the season it turned out pretty good.  Had twenty eight people, about six or eight more than signed up!  Linda and I donate all the stuff.  We had extra eggs. from HEB, (they were free) so we scrambled three dozen.  After the breakfast was our bible study and that was the last one.  We really enjoyed it.

I have started packing the camper and will do more today and more tomorrow.  Hopefully it won’t be overloaded!!!

We went to  Llano State Park the other day to see the alligators and eat out. 

This alligator was across the lake and very large.  We had a good time there and Don and Cheryl showed us a bird that took us a long time to see it even though it was only about six feet away and it wasn’t a small bird!  It is called  “Pataki” and I’m not sure if that is how to spell it.

If I could figure out how to draw on the picture I would circle it but it is just above the dark stick and to the right of the long white stick.  Took us a long time to see it.

We stopped at Fat Daddy’s BBQ and now that we know where it is we would stop again. They have excellent food.

We had a St Pat’s Day get together last night.  Had a good time.  I will put in a picture of our table…

Joe and Dee are at this end, their son Doug is beside Joe, Jay is next to Doug and of course Linda and me.  Had an excellent dinner.  Linda made mashed potatoes and hamburger gravy, I made some jalapeno bread and Linda made cookies.  Of course there was corned beef and cabbage plus a lot more. 

I want to go to Pulga this morning.  Not for anything special, but would like to get an air compressor.  Need to air up the tires on the camper before we leave.

Oh, Pat fixed taco salad for the six of us Sunday Night.  We used our “new room” for the get together!  Works out great for six or eight people.

We sure have had a funny winter, not real bad, but bad enough.  Almost every week we have a cool, or cold front come through.  I think we have had frost a couple of times but never a freeze, so far!  Yesterday was another one of the cool fronts.  Was kind of nice when I first went out but the wind came up and a few clouds came though.  I got a couple of pictures…

That was about all for the weather.  It did warm up today though.  Got up to about seventy I think.  Really turned out nice.  We opened up the house in the afternoon.  The new room gets very warm so it helped warm up the house.  Next year we will try to insulate the ceiling so it won’t get quite so warm and won’t  get so much condensation on the ceiling.  Job for next winter.

It is supposed to be warmer today and we are going to Mr Ghatti’s for lunch.  I have to stop and get another board at Home Depot and have to go to Wal Mart for a few things.

Hard to believe that our time is almost up here.  We will be heading out in less than two weeks.  We are leaving a little early so we can get to California while the kids are on Spring Break. “On the road again”.

Been  a  few days since I have posted my blog!! This will probably be a short one also.

We had our 42nd anniversary on the 4th.  We stayed in, didn’t go anywhere, didn’t do anything.   It was very cool and rainy so this was a good time to stay in and watch some of our taped stuff.  Had a very good day actually.

We celebrated our anniversary on Saturday with a bunch of others.  Don and Cheryl’s anniversary was the ninth and Larry and Pat’s was the tenth and Judy had a birthday on the eighth.  We went to a steak house for our dinner….

We had a good dinner and then went to see, and dance, the Renaissance Rockers at another RV Park.  Had  good time.

Had a good church service Sunday and worked in the coffee shop after service.  I usually get done around 2:15PM and then head home.  I help serve then help with the clean up.  Time change kind of messed up everyone I think.  Services were down and so was the coffee sales, probably pick up next Sunday, everyone should be used to the time change and maybe it will be a little better weather.

Last night we went over to Don and Cheryl’s for supper.  She fixed pot roast, carrots, potatoes and creamed peas.  Excellent dinner.

The sun is shining today and it is supposed to get up around eighty, a lot different than yesterday.  This morning I put Styrofoam in the ceiling where there are openings, not easy to explain but it was pretty easy to do, didn’t take long.

It isn’t quite finished but getting there.  We put on the security doors (cheaper than screen doors) and they look pretty decent.  I am quite satisfied!

Guess it is time to write some more on the blog.  We went to South Padre Island with Don, Cheryl, Larry and Pat.  Had a good time, got to see the Gulf again and walk on the beach…

It was a pretty cloudy, or foggy, day.  Not cold but not real nice.

Got to see some pelicans….

They are actually being patient!  The guy throws some stuff to them once in awhile and only one gets it but they still wait patiently.

We haven’t been doing a lot, going to Wal Mart etc.  We have a door to put on the front of our place but haven’t gotten to it yet.  It has been very cool, actually for me it has been cold.  I did put on another piece of trim in the new room and today I think I will try to start on the door. I am anxious to get it up and also get the front fixed up a little, it is messy when it rains and we track in a lot of dirt.

Yesterday was our anniversary, forty two years, and we didn’t do anything.  I asked if she wanted to go to Cheddar’s for a nice meal but she didn’t want to go out.  We are going to get together with Don and Cheryl and Larry and Pat.  Their anniversaries are all this month and really close to ours.

Got a picture of some Yucca plants that are blooming.  We had Yucca plants back in MO but these are a little bigger…

Well, guess that is about all for today. not a lot planned.  Need to go to Wal Mart, I also need to get the car washed, it is really bad!
