Friday June 12th 2015

Well, I will start with Tuesday.  Took Tim to the hospital in Davenport for his back operation.  Turned out successful but the dogs had to stay home for about 15 hours. They weren’t happy…

Tim was hurting pretty bad but I think he is laughing in this picture. He felt 100% better after the surgery, they removed a pretty large fragment from his back or spine.

Went to Marion Thursday to see friends from Seldom Rest Ranch.  Got to see Dallas, Larry and Joan and Andy and Joan.  Wanted to see Eleanor but she couldn’t make it…

Yes, it is eating time again!!

Eleanor couldn’t make it because she had Chemo Therapy this morning and I imagine she isn’t doing to good.  Got a picture of her from Seldom Rest at one of our plays….

Eleanor is sitting, she played a nurse (which she is) and one of my many wives.  Had a fun night, really sorry she isn’t feeling good.  She had cancer before and it came back and they told her it was stage 4.  She kind of plays it down, but she says if it gets the best of her, she is ready to go see Jesus!  What an attitude!

OK back to the present, it has rained for the last 24 hours, good soaking rain but I think everyone likes the sunshine!

Friday June 5th 2015

Well, we decided to go back to Sikeston and come back here again in August for the family reunion.  Will be heading back around the 16th of June.  Got a picture of Joe, the owner of Leisure Lake….

SAM_0302

We get along OK but I guess I was spoiled by Mark.  Mark lets me do my thing and with Joe I’m not sure what I can and can’t do.  Doesn’t seem like home here anymore either.  I think Texas is  probably the closest thing to home with all our friends down there.  Sikeston is good also.

I did get to use the zero turn mower a couple of times.  Linda got a picture of me…

SAM_0311

I enjoy running the zero turn but I’m not real good at it yet.  Still need lots of practice.

Our little goslings are growing fast.  They don’t have any yellow left and are actually getting some white in their tails.  Their wings are still pretty stubby but a couple more weeks and they will be maturing.

This mower is hard to use on the hill which doesn’t look bad but it is pretty steep….

We have lots of plans for next week.  Getting together with Ed and Fred and maybe Dennis and going to take Tim and Connie to the quad cities.  Tim is going to have surgery and they don’t have a car right now.  Will be pretty early but I think we can manage it.

Guess that is about all for now so Bye Y’all…

Thursday June 4th 2015

Well, I gave Joe my 2 weeks notice yesterday.  Lots of different reasons but I guess the main one is this just isn’t home anymore.  Hate to say it but Sikeston is pretty much our home for the summer and Texas for the winter.  We probably wouldn’t have left Texas if I hadn’t agreed to this job here in Rock Falls.  I will miss a lot of things and people here but we have a lot of friends in Sikeston and the people in Texas we consider family.

I got to sing in a quartet on the fifth Sunday.  Had a good time. The lead singer (Jerry) has a great tenor voice.  He was minister of music at the First Nazarene Church in Sterling but I guess when the pastor retired they hired someone new.  Got a picture of him but not the quartet….

SAM_0289

Jerry is eighty six years old and has a beautiful voice.  Tim is behind him and he played the piano for the quartet.  The organ is his instrument of choice but he can sure belt out a tune on the piano!

The little geese babies (goslings?) are getting a lot bigger.  They don’t have their feathers yet but their tales are starting to turn white…

SAM_0300

They sure are growing fast.

We made plans to see Ed, Larena, Fred and Joan Monday in Franklin Grove for lunch.  Not sure if Dennis and Joan will come or not, not sure how to get ahold of them.

Oh, I am going to add a picture of Jeanne.   She is a great piano player and singer….

SAM_0299

She has been playing the piano all her life I think and she can really play good.

Well, if I can make it to McDonald’s I will be able to post this.  I will probably go this morning.   Will be nice to be where we can get the internet!

Time to say Bye Y’all….
