Friday February 28th 2014

This is the last day of February!!  Time is flying by.

The work on our room is progressing quite well.  Last night we had a group over for home made pizza.  There were eight of us all together and we fit quite comfortably in the room. There was even room for us to get around the chairs to go back into the kitchen. We had a pretty good time..

Don and Cheryl, Larry and Pat and the ones you can’t see are Ed and Joan.  Linda is in the picture also.

Here is a picture of Linda making the pizza….

Yesterday Don, Jack and I went to cut some wood for Jack.  There are some dead trees in the field next to our park.

P1020432

I think we got enough to last him for awhile.  I think it is mesquite but I am not sure.  It should burn good, it has been dead for a long time.

After cutting wood we went and picked up a security door for the front door.  I think we will try to put it on tomorrow.  Don isn’t feeling very good and neither is Cheryl.  I think it has to do with allergies but could be the Texas Crud.  Not fun to have the Texas Crud.

Guess that is about all for this time.  Bye Y’all….

Wednesday February 26th 2014

Yes, it has been awhile since I have posted my blog but then there aren’t a lot of people that can see it.  When I downloaded this writer on this computer I must have changed the address because it goes to a different blog now, same name but a different place!

We have been busy building the little room, expensive little room but it does give us a lot of needed space to live.  Not real sure what we will do with it yet but I’m sure we will use it for something…

Mary did all the taping, mudding, texturing, tile and grouting.  Really looks good!

P1020420

Got some tiles laid and now working on a little piece on the steps…

P1020423

Looks good doesn’t it????  Mary is wearing some of my home made knee pads. It is a swimming noodle held on with rubber bands.  More comfortable than regular knee pads.  Mary got blisters on her knees laying the tiles because she didn’t have knee pads.  Guess that hurt pretty bad.

We went to Polga the other day with Joe and Dee.  Had a good time walking around.  Got a nice picture of them…

P1020428

We are having Spiro papas! They are excellent.  Just a potato cut in a spiral and deep fried with some goodies to go on them.  Linda looks happy….

P1020430

I think I have a picture of the room after the trim was put up…

P1020424

Mark calls this the Hinton Rustic look!  It does look OK but I think other trim would have looked a little better.  We still aren’t done.  I need to put on security screen doors another piece of trim and them start moving furniture out here.  We will probably change it around quite a lot until we find the way we like it.

I started working in the coffee shop at church, it is call Holy Grounds. It is very interesting, the people that make the Latte and Frappe drinks are really fast.  I serve coffee and help with the cleanup.  Last Sunday I put toppings on the drinks, whip cream, chocolate, caramel etc.  I kind of enjoy doing it.

Joe and Mary left yesterday to go back to Michigan.  Their daughter Monica has cancer and they want to be there to help out.

Guess that is all I can remember, we probably have done a lot more but it has just slipped my mind so it is time to say bye Y’all…..

Sunday February 16th 2-14

We have been kind of busy the last few days.  We went to Mexico on Thursday with Joe, Dee and Cheryl.  Had a good time. I saw a pair of boots that I thought were amazing..

P1020406

They were to small for me and I don’t really like the color but they were really different and they even had LED lights along the sole!!  $200 was more than I was willing to pay anyway.

We went to a dance on Friday night to see the Renaissance Rockers.  They play a lot of Rock and Roll music.  Had a pretty good time, a little crowded though..

P1020411

There were twelve in our party.  We danced a few dances but Linda’s hips started hurting and my feet were also hurting.

Yesterday we went to help at a children’s home up the road.  We were supposed to help paint toy cars.  We were there probably an hour and a half and it was really different.   The kids were really nice, a little hyper maybe but very nice.  Got a picture of the toys they painted….

P1020413

As you can tell blue was a favorite color.  It was something for the kids to do and probably a little break in their routing.

We went to a wiener roast and sat around the fire last night.  That was something different for down here.  Jack bought a fire ring and wanted to give it a try.  Worked out perfectly.  The wind was a little strong but we all had a pretty good time.

Guess that is about all for now,,,bye Y’all…

Tuesday February 11th 2014

Well, lets see, most of the work on the room is done.  They finished the siding, drywall and electric yesterday.  Still a lot of stuff to do though.  The outside is looking a lot nicer, I think I have a couple of pictures…

There is still a lot of cleanup to do but it does look a lot nicer.

This morning Mary came over and started the taping and mudding. I sanded and stained the boards for the trim.  Coming along pretty fast I think…

Yesterday was a beautiful day, today, well, not so nice, very cool, cloudy and misting. Yesterday though…

Well, so much for what is happening now.  Guess I better get off now and do a few more thing….Bye Y’all….

Saturday February 8th 2014

It is still Winter here!!  Guess it is in most places.  We went to Progreso Thursday.  Joe and Dee had dental appointments and I did to.  We got there a little early, their appointments were at 9:30AM and mine was at 11AM.  worked out quite well, we were all done by 10:45AM.  That was pretty fast.  I wasn’t real pleased with the cleaning and I will probably try another dentist next time.

We stopped at a little cafe called Rene’s I think and had brunch.  It wasn’t to bad.  Got a picture…

P1020397

We had a good time except it was just freezing!   It was 35 degrees when we left and when we got back it was a whopping 35 degrees.  Walking across the bridge was really cold. Wind was blowing, not raining though.

The work is coming along on our room.  Still have a lot to do though…

P1020394

We, or they, built steps yesterday and now we don’t have such a large step. I think what is left now is siding and drywall.  We still have to hook up the electricity and I went and got a breaker switch yesterday, sure hope it is the right one.  I put in small windows to help keep break ins down, not sure it will help but the small windows on the side would be almost impossible to get in.  They open so we can get a little air through them.

They are taking today off and going rummage sailing.  Kind of sounds like fun but we have so much “stuff” now we don’t have room for any more!

Jack and Mary asked for the steps so we will see what happens.  Hope they take them, we can’t use them any more.

Time to say Bye Y’all….

Wednesday February 5th 2014

We have really been busy the last three days!  We are closing in a portion of our screen room.  This will give us a little more living room.  I have plans of putting the kitchen table out there.  Not sure that will be what it ends up being though.  Larry and Don have been doing most of the work.  Jay has helped along with others from the park.  I have helped a little but still not much because I really don’t understand construction.  For two days though they have done a lot…

P1020392

This may look a little strange right now without siding and a door but it is coming together. Like I said for two days there has been a lot accomplished.

Not sure what we will get done today but I think the siding is next.  We have to take a door back because it opens the wrong way.  Actually we have a lot of material to take back.  Also need to get a couple of outside lights.   The windows  look pretty small and they actually are but I wanted small windows because it would deter break ins.  I don’t think anyone would break in but this would give them something more to think about.

Sunday I filled out an application to work at PVC.  This will be a volunteer job cleaning the coffee shop after church.  Not sure if I will be doing any work before I leave but will probably work when we come back this fall.

Linda has been fixing lunch for all of us and has done an excellent job.  Monday she fixed chili with macaroni and cheese.  It was very good, gave me indigestion the rest of the day. Yesterday she fixed spaghetti with garlic bread.  She thought that it wasn’t to good but we all liked it!

Guess that is pretty much it.  I worked on insulation yesterday and I have a headache this morning.  Hope it goes away….  Bye for now Y’all…
