Monday June 30th2014

This is the last day of the month! Going to be a hot one today.  Our AC ran a lot last night and I thought maybe there was something wrong with it but when I stepped outside this morning I could understand why.  It is warm and very muggy!  The new AC is supposed to be in today but I won’t try to put it on in heat like this.  I would really like to have it hooked up and going but don’t want  to have a heat stroke putting it on.

I baked some cinnamon rolls Saturday and we went over to visit Jim..  Rolls turned out pretty good…

P1020704

Gave a few to the neighbor and took the rest over to Jim’s place.  Had a real good visit with Jim.  He seems to be doing fairly well since June passed away.  He is looking quite healthy.

I worked Saturday afternoon in the office.  Had a pretty good day but it was also busy.

Church Sunday was pretty good Pastor Jimmy had the service.

Well, Chloe is up so I suppose I need to take her out….Bye Y’all..

Thursday June 26th 2014

We are still having some pretty warm weather!  Been close to 90 almost everyday for the last eight or ten days!  Looks like the same for the next few days.  Guess this is summer though and the weather is going to be hot.

I mowed the RV Park and it took me two mornings to do it.  That is OK, the afternoons are just to warm.  Got a picture of how well the weed killer worked on the sites.  This is the weed killer from off the internet.  It has vinegar, Epsom salt and Dawn liquid…

P1020698

Well I truthfully don’t see anything dead in here except maybe the rocks.  The grass is even growing in the sites so I would have to give this a failing mark for this test!

Got  picture of Linda and her “kid” friends….

P1020699

Don’t they look like they are having a good time?  The kids are watching cartoons.

Last night at church we studied chapter 2 of Proverbs.  I kind of led the discussion. I think Pastor wanted to do three chapters tonight but I didn’t quite get through chapter 2.  I thought it was interesting, not sure what anyone else thought.  Harold was supposed to take Chapter three and he was kind of sweating it because he studied chapter three of Psalms! He was glad that I took the full time.

Linda made chili last night and that was really good. She made it with hamburger, pork and turkey.  I think it tastes better than with just hamburger!

This morning was a pretty morning, last night was gorgeous too but I got a picture this morning….

P1020700

I think it is supposed to rain today.  It will probably be cloudy all day..

Time to say Bye Y’all….

Tuesday June 24th 2014

Got the new AC for the camper and I put it up on the roof with the tractor.  I did this last Friday and it was just to hot to try to put it up so I waited until Monday. Got a picture of the new one and the old one.

P1020693

P1020694

The new one is the top one and the old one is the bottom one.  Got up early Monday morning and got started.  It went pretty good except for the inside part of the new one. I couldn’t get it hooked up so I thought I better try to run it first anyway.  Good thing I did, it wouldn’t run.  I took the outside shroud off and the bearing that holds the blower shaft in place had been pressed in so it kind of looks like a pretzel!  Not good.  Took the new one back off and put the old one back on.  It was almost 9:30AM by the time I got the old one running again and it was HOT!  Outside I mean.  Once the sun came up it really warmed up fast.  Now I get to look forward to doing this again.  I called the place I got it and I’m not sure what they are going to do but if they send me the parts I will fix it myself.  We will see what happens.

Our neighbor has two young girls that have taken a liking to Linda.  They  are her “kid” friends.  They like to come over and visit with Linda especially when I am working or gone.

P1020697

Jasmine and Alicia are very nice young ladies.  I really think they are bored. They have not other kids around except a cousin that comes and visits sometimes.

If it doesn’t rain to much today I need to do a little mowing.  Oh, the weed spray from the internet doesn’t seem to be doing anything.  Didn’t hurt to try though.  Would have been nice if it would have killed the weeds though.

Time to say Bye Y’all..

Friday June 20th 2014

Thought that I would post another short blog.  The weather has been unusually warm.  I mowed yesterday and then sprayed a bottle of Round Up.  I finished a little after noon and the heat was getting to me.  I should have drank more water but when I start something I like to finish.  There was some weed eating that needed to be done but that will have to wait until next week.

I ordered another air conditioner for the camper.  I think it was a really good deal, hope the AC is a good one, it is an off brand, Gree, but with shipping and everything it was under $500.  Same AC from other places run from $800 to $1000 so now I hope it will fit our camper.  I will take pictures when it gets here

Went to Brandon’s yesterday afternoon and picked up my ladder. It is almost to big to haul around.  Just barely fit in the car.  Thinking about taking it to Texas and leaving it there.  I need one down there especially if I do the roof this Fall.

We watched some TV tonight and I had to take a couple of pictures of Chloe.  She is weird. She likes sleeping on a pillow and also covered with another pillow….

P1020689

Doesn’t she look comfortable?

P1020691

Time to get up…

P1020692

I think she isn’t quite ready to get up yet.  They like the new sofa, futon.  We can all sit here at once but they don’t like to sit close to each other, well, Chloe like to be close but Sparky gives her all the room she wants…

Guess it is about time to say Bye Y’all….

Wednesday June 18th 2014

Thought I would do my blog again today.  The weather has been pretty warm for a few days and I guess it is going to stay that way for a few more days.  It has been in the 90s and even at night it only gets down into the 70s.  Sparky and I walk before the sun gets to high but even in the sun it is hot and perspiration is a given.  I don’t think I will go into work today, just sit around where it is cool.  I think tomorrow I may have to mow, maybe.

Yesterday I sprayed Round Up and did a little work with the machine one of the campers left. He left without paying.  I finally got a belt and a blade for it, had to get some other washers and a good nut also but it sure works good!

P1020687

This is the machine and I had already gone over the edging.  The end result….

P1020688

This took about twenty minutes.  With just the weed eater it would take about two hours. The dark spot at the bottom of the picture is the lens cover.  I have some problems with it because I carry the camera almost all the time and it gets a lot of abuse.  I had to do a little prying on it this morning to get it to open  all the way.  Glad it has a cover because if it didn’t it would be so scratched up the pictures would be blurry.

We fixed a meal for Ann again today and took it over to Morehouse.  Ann is a neat lady and we usually have a really good visit with her.  She likes to talk.  I think she gets a lot of company.

Guess that is about all, I think I will try to post this now….Bye Y’all..

Tuesday June 17th 2014

I do believe summer has made it to Sikeston.  We were in the nineties yesterday, almost tied the record and the next week is supposed to be about the same.  We went to Wal Mart yesterday and the corn fields are growing like crazy.  Looks like they are already starting to tassel!

Before it got to hot yesterday, I sprayed a bottle of Round UP then got the mower and mowed some of the sites.  Not a fun job with a push mower set on the lowest setting..

P1020686

These are weeds that Round Up won’t kill. I think it acts like fertilizer. These weeds grow like crazy.  There are at least three different kinds of weeds that the spray won’t kill but this year is the worst that I remember.  I had used the weed eater on a lot of the sites and it does a lot better job but it is also a lot harder and sprays gravel and sand a lot worse than the lawn mower.

We take a meal to Ann, from church, who is in pretty bad shape.  She really likes veggies so I think we will take fried cabbage with smoked sausage tomorrow.  Will have to figure out what goes with that.  I love fried cabbage!  Bought enough for us to!

I am going to work for awhile this morning.  I will spray a bottle of Round Up then get the edger out and try to made a couple of the mobile home sites look a little better.  I will probably quit early because it it going to be so hot.

Time to say Bye Y’all…

Sunday June 15th 2014

We went to church this morning.  Miss Lorene went with us.  She went with us last year about every other Sunday.  We stopped at the DQ after church for lunch.  Linda bought!  Chicken strips and Linda got a BBQ.  She also bought a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup cake. Ice Cream Cake of course.  It was good.  Wouldn’t fit in our freezer.  No, we didn’t eat the whole thing, she had to cut it into pieces so we will be able to have it from time to time.

I had Linda take a picture of the “Quartet”.  We sang a song last Sunday and didn’t get a picture then.  The song went pretty good for very little practice.

P1020684

Right to left is Pastor Randy and Coyita, Clydie and me.  Hopefully we will be able to sing more songs.

Friday and Saturday were two of the best weather days we have had.  It was sunny and the temperature was right around seventy two maybe a little higher but just great days.

Well, I don’t know what else has happened, just been a few really good days.  Oh, I worked the office yesterday and things went quite well.  Friday I went to Little Caesar's for pizza.  Guess it is time to say Bye Y’all….

Friday the 13th 2014 (June)

Even if it is Friday the 13th it is supposed to be one of the nicest days this week.  Sunny, kind of cool and maybe a little wind.  Not the rain, or humidity and not blistering hot.  That is coming in a couple of days.

I think I mentioned that we had new tires put on the camper.  I am kind of anxious to see if it makes any difference in gas mileage.  Even if were just a half mile to the gallon better I would be pleased.

Next month we are planning on heading to Illinois for the family reunion.  Plan on spending about a month there.  Need to visit relatives.  My sister, Sister Margaret Anne, just had a knee replacement and she seems to be doing quite well, Praise the Lord!

Linda got a plant for mothers day and we let it sit here in the camper for a couple of weeks so I took it over and Mark let me plant it in the chair…

P1020679

It is blooming again so I think it will live.  I was kind of wondering about it.

I mowed the campground yesterday and did a little weed eating.  I think that I will take today off and relax.  I work the office tomorrow, not looking forward to that but time goes pretty fast if I have my computer.

So far we are comfortable in the camper.  Taking the booth out and putting in the futon makes it more comfortable, not for eating but for relaxing.  I think the dogs like it too.

I fixed something a little different the other day.  We had some smoked sausage and I wanted to get it used up so I used some bell pepper and onions and fried them together. I was surprised, and so was Linda, that it tasted pretty good!

P1020677

May not look the greatest but it did taste pretty good!

Guess that is about all for now.  I wanted to put in a picture of our group that sang in church Sunday but I didn’t get a picture.  That will be coming up later, I hope.

Bye Y’all….

Friday June 6th 2014

The last few days have been quite hectic! We have had some really warm humid weather. Got the RV Park mowed on Wednesday.  Still need a lot of Round Up spraying done.  Guess I will work on that later.  Mierlen is down in the back so I will start working Saturdays for him until he gets better.

We ordered a futon for the camper.  I am going to take out the dinette set.  It is very uncomfortable for us and we just don’t have places to sit. It will cause other problems though with no table and very little counter room.

I started taking out the table yesterday morning which was really a hard job.  They put these campers together with a million screws and staples then  screw them to the body, then cover them with boards, trim and whatever.  The first one took me about two hours to get out and it is in pretty bad shape..  Here is a picture before..

P1020672

The left seat is loose here, I really worked up a sweat.  Next is a little farther on, got everything out…

P1020673

This was at our storage shed. That is where the table and the rest of the booth is. Stopped to get gas and I was happy, well kind of, we got 9.4MPG out of this tank.  Drove from this side of Springfield MO to Sikeston for $75.  Better than $100!!  Anyway, we stopped at Wal Mart and picked up our Chinese futon and started putting it in.  We went to Plaza Tire for new tires and put the futon together there.

P1020675

The futon is supposed to be seventy one inches, the opening is seventy two but I think the futon is actually seventy three. I can’t get the arm rest on the right side, I’m lacking about one inch.

Well, we got new tires put on the camper. I felt sorry for the kid that did the work.  Took him over an hour to get the first dually off. I didn’t actually hear him cuss but I’m sure he was.

P1020674

Wouldn’t you know, it rained making the young fellows job just that much more miserable. Got the oil changed also so we are now ready to travel again.

Here is another picture after we got back to the campground…

P1020676

We have more room and it is more comfortable. It will take some getting used to but we will work things out.

Time to say Bye Y’all….
